Visits typically last two hours and offer professional installation of energy-saving equipment that may include:
  • LED bulbs
  • Weather-stripping for one external wooden door
  • Energy-efficient showerheads
  • Kitchen and bathroom faucet aerators
  • Water heater temperature check
  • Smart thermostat with AC Rewards enrollment for eligible customers
Program Limitations
  • No guarantee that all offerings can be performed
  • Items installed subject to additional program requirements based on individual home conditions and utility services provided by Xcel Energy. See FAQs for more information
  • Home without AC cannot enroll in AC Rewards and receive a thermostat
  • French doors cannot have weather-stripping installed
Eligibility
To qualify for a free Income Qualified Home Energy Squad® Standard Visit you must:
  • Be an Xcel Energy residential customer in Colorado
  • Live in a single-family home or building with 4 or fewer units
  • Have your own electric and/or gas utility account
  • Self-attest as income qualified (additional verification needed for upgrade rebates)

Installs depend on your home's setup and energy service (e.g., gas-only customers don’t qualify for LED bulbs)

 

Smart Thermostats Requirements:

To receive a free smart thermostat:

  • Must have Xcel Energy electric service
  • Must have central AC
  • Must enroll in the AC Rewards program
  • Thermostats from Xcel Energy’s store can be installed if unopened and wiring allows

Note: Installation is not guaranteed due to wiring compatibility


Renters
  • Eligible if in a single-family home or a 4-unit building
  • Landlord approval required
